Exploring Innovation: Academic Visit to IIIT Bhagalpur

The students of Classes IX and XI ofour school, accompanied by faculty members Mr. Rohit R and Mr. Suraj, visitedthe prestigious Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bhagalpur as partof an academic exposure programme on 27 January 2026.

During the visit, students wereintroduced to the advanced laboratories and the innovative research culture ofthe premier technical institute. They had the opportunity to explore theRobotics Research Lab, where they observed live demonstrations and gainedinsights into the functioning of cutting-edge robotic systems.

The interactive session enabledstudents to understand emerging technologies and research opportunities in thefields of Information Technology and Engineering. The visit marked thebeginning of a promising academic association between SFS Deoghar and IIITBhagalpur, paving the way for future collaborations and enriched learningopportunities.

Exploring Medical Marvels: SFS Students Visit AIIMS Deoghar

As part of the academic curriculum, the Class IX andClass XII Biology students of St. Francis School, Deoghar visited AIIMS Deogharon 29 November 2025. The students were accompanied by the teachers of theBiology Department.

Upon arrival, they were warmly welcomed by Dr.Vishakha Yashwant Sontakke, Associate Professor of Anatomy at AIIMS Deoghar. Anexpert team from AIIMS guided the students through various specialiseddepartments, including Radiology, Telemedicine, Blood Bank, Anatomy,Physiology, and the Dialysis Centre.

During the visit, students were also briefed on thewaste management system followed in hospitals. They learned about the fourcolour-coded bins used for the safe disposal of biomedical waste:

• Yellow bin – for body fluids and blood waste
• Red bin – for plastic waste
• Blue bin – for glass waste
• White bin – for needles and other sharp waste

This hands-on demonstration helped studentsunderstand the importance of hygiene, safety, and responsible medicalpractices.

The visit proved to be an enriching and insightfulexperience, offering students valuable exposure to modern medical facilities,equipment, and advanced technologies. It was indeed a wonderful and educationaltour for all the students.

Inspiration and Celebration: Fr. Amando Graces Children’s Day at SFS Deoghar

Children’s Day at St. Francis School, Deoghar, wasmade truly memorable this year by the gracious presence of Fr. AmandoTrujillo Cano, Minister General of the Third Order Regular (TOR). His visitbrought immense joy and inspiration, making the celebration deeply meaningfulfor every student.

The programme began with a warm welcome to Fr.Amando, followed by a vibrant series of performances by both teachers andstudents. Fr. John Kochuchira TOR, Secretary of the school, greeted him with abouquet. Fr. Abraham Koladiyil TOR, Principal, presented a memento, and Fr.Prasanjit Toppo TOR, Vice Principal, honoured him with a shawl. The schoolchoir also sang a special welcome song dedicated to Fr. Amando, adding aharmonious note to the festivities.

The celebration featured colourful dances, melodioussongs, and fun-filled activities that brought smiles and excitement to all. Theteachers had also prepared special performances dedicated to the children,adding delightful surprises to the day’s events.

In his inspiring address, Fr. Amando emphasized thebeauty of the uniqueness in every child and encouraged students to grow withkindness, responsibility and joy.

The event concluded on a patriotic note with thePledge to the Nation and the singing of Vande Mataram, led by the teachers,reflecting love and respect for the country.

Teachers’ Day 2025: A Tribute to Our Beloved Teachers at SFS

St. Francis School, Deoghar, celebrated Teachers’ Day on 4th September 2025 with joy and enthusiasm. The program, organized by Class X students, featured skits, dances, instrumental music, and other cultural performances, all dedicated to expressing gratitude to teachers. The celebration was graced by Mr. A.J. George as Chief Guest and Mrs.Preeti Roy as Guest of Honour. Fr. Abraham Koladiyil, Principal, addressed the gathering, while Fr. Prasenjit Toppo proposed the vote of thanks. As a token of love and appreciation, teachers we represented with gifts and honored with a special lunch hosted by the school management.

Achievement in Regional Declamation Contest

In the Regional Level English Declamation Contestheld at Narbheram Hansraj English School, Jamshedpur, on 29th August 2025, SuryabhaSaxena (XI Commerce) won 3rd prize in the Senior Category representing Deoghar Zone.

Nityant Ketu (X-D)and Aradhya Sudhanshu (VIII-A) also participated in the Junior andSub-junior categories and received Participation Certificates.

INDEPENDECE DAY CELEBRATION

WE SALUTE YOU

It gives us immense pleasure andpride to inform all of you that SFS Deoghar celebrated the 79th IndependenceDay of our Nation with all pomp and show in its campus. The splendidperformances of children from Nursery to Class XII were a grand feast to eyes,ears, head, and heart. Certainly, the mega display of the day was the fruit ofalmost two weeks’ highly dedicated and disciplined hard practice.

The celebration began at 8:25a.m. Rev. Fr. Thomas Chittookalam TOR, the former Principal of SFS and thepresent President of Franciscan Society, Bhagalpur, was the Chief Guest of theprogramme. He was led to the podium with guard of honour. Exactly at 8:30 a.m.,he hoisted the National Flag ceremoniously. It was followed by the NationalAnthem and the Pledge to the Nation.

Then the Chief Guest inspectedthe contingents. As soon as the inspection was over, the four groups of ourschool – Concord, Explorer, Patriot and Peacemaker – displayed their paradingskill in front of the patriots gathered in the SFS campus.

The next very important event wasthe formal welcoming of the Chief Guest, other dignitaries and alldistinguished guests. Rev. Fr. Abraham Koladiyil TOR, the Principal of theschool and the Master-brain of this programme who planned the A to Z of it andexecuted his dream project meticulously, formally welcomed with all formalitiesthe Chief Guest and all assembled there to the grand gala.

Thereafter began the much-awaitedcultural feast consisting of various heart-throbbing dances, patriotic songs,thought-provoking speeches of English and Hindi, and a soul-stirring skit onthe sacrifices of Great Freedom Fighters. The spell-binding performance of theSFS Band took the invitees to new heights of surprise and happiness. All theeyes were on the stars of our NCC wing when they came marching with the vigourand valour of our brave soldiers. The spectacular and breath-taking display ofTaekwondo added more colour and charm to the grand day.

The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. ThomasChittookalam, in his heart to heart speech not only highlighted the selflesssacrifices of our great freedom fighters but also stressed the need to upholdthe virtues of our glorious freedom. He also urged the youngsters to tread alwaysalong the path of virtue and patriotism and lead our country to the zenith ofprogress and prosperity.

Rev. Fr. Prasanjit Toppo, TOR,proposed the Vote of Thanks. In his speech he emphasised the small and bigefforts of everyone associated with this programme. The great celebration cameto an end with the National Song sung by the school choir. Certainly, the 79thIndependence Day Celebration of SFS Deoghar was one of the best celebrationsever held in this campus. Though the day is over, its memories are etched inour hearts and will linger there for a long time inspiring us to march aheadalong the true path of patriotism.

SFS, Deoghar: Our studentsshowcased outstanding talent at the Regional Archery Competition held atMadhusthali Vidyapith, Madhupur on 25 July 2025, bringing pride and medals tothe school.

In the U-14 Boys and Girlscategories, Veenith Vaibhav Marandi and Aarohi Raj struck Gold.

In the U-17 Boys category,Kushagra Chandrakar earned the Bronze Medal.

In the U-19 Girls category,Shreedhi Gupta brought home a Gold Medal, while Shipra Gupta secured fourthposition.

All the students have beenselected for the National Level Archery Competition.

SFS, Deoghar: Our sharpshootershave made the school proud at the Regional Shooting Competition held atMadhusthali Vidyapeeth on 25 July 2025.

In the U-19 Boys category, ShouryDubey clinched the Silver Medal, while Krishna Sharma brought home the Bronze.

In the U-19 Girls category,Ishita Dhanraj struck Gold and Aditi Anand Jha followed with a brilliantSilver.

Shashwat Sandilya made his markin the U-14 Boys category by securing the Silver Medal.

Adding to the celebration, all ofour talented shooters have qualified for the National Shooting Competition,scheduled to be held at Ryan International School (KA143), Bengaluru, from 2ndto 4th September 2025.
